[CJ OliveNetworks = August 31, 2018 (Friday)] CJ OliveNetworks announced on August 31 that it demonstrated a “face recognition signage” solution based on big data to President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea, at a meeting with officials and representatives from the data industry held in Pangyo Startup Campus.

The event was held to discuss measures for improving the quality of life by using data in various fields such as transportation and health, and to develop by innovating regulations on it. About 120 representatives of big data and cloud companies, small and medium sized enterprises(SMEs), venture firms and civilians participated in the event that was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the Financial Services Commission, and the Korea Communications Commission.

CJ OliveNetworks joined the event as a company that specializes in big data and leads the analyses and use of data, and showcased its “face recognition signage” solution. Face recognition signage is a marketing service based on big data that entails scanning the face of consumers to guess their age and sex and recommending products based on the sales data of retail stores. In addition, it collects and analyzes the behavioral information of signage users so that they may be used for the stores’ sales strategies.

President Moon tried the solution by standing in front of the signage, and got its recommendation on skincare products that fit his age and sex.

The Big Data Center of CJ OliveNetworks has been acknowledged for its expertise in services related to big data such as its development, analyses, and technological support for algorithm including data distribution. As such, the National Information Society Agency (NIA) selected it as a “2018 center specializing in big data” last June. In addition, the Ministry of Science and ICT selected the company for the pursuit of its “2017 Data Trading and Brokerage Pilot Project”. The company has joined the ministry’s efforts made to vitalize the data ecosystem by engaging in a project to build a food supply data distribution platform, among others. (End)
