- CJ OliveNetworks has pursued “Zero Defects” activities to innovate IT quality since 2017, to support efforts made to reinforce IT competitiveness

[CJ OliveNetworks = September 6, 2018 (Thursday)] CJ OliveNetworks announced on September 5 that it held the “DT Infrastructure Innovation Symposium” with companies specializing in IT services. The symposium was prepared to share the cases of stably operating IT systems and seek for the industry’s development direction.

At the event, about 60 representatives of five companies including CJ OliveNetworks, Shinsegae Inc., Kolon Benit, Nongshim Data System (NDS), and GS ITM, participated.

The participating companies agreed that the stable operation of the IT infrastructure must be supported to successfully adopt the new IT technologies emerging as part of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in the business and to lead DT.

Thus, CJ OliveNetworks presented case studies of stably operating IT systems at CJ Group’s affiliates through pan-corporate systemic quality innovation. It has pursued activities for “Zero Defects” since 2017 and is currently executing tasks for IT process and system improvement, IT standardization, and automation of its operation.

Last year, under the slogan of “Zero Defects 1.0”, the company reinforced the checking of the stable operation and quality before and after opening a service. In addition, it held blind tests of important systems by third parties and diagnosed the architecture with the expert workforce to improve IT stability. Furthermore, it has built a disaster recovery (DR) and backup management system to recover immediately when service defects occur. It has equally automated system monitoring to prevent human errors and forecast defects in advance. CJ Group has also largely improved the quality of its IT products by standardizing them.

This year, the company is pursuing “Zero Defects 2.0,” which further reinforces the project’s quality management and expands pan-corporately the automation system of checking IT systems to supplement the existing quality innovation activities. In addition, it has established installation standards for major products and introduced tools that can automate their diagnoses to maximize the system composition’s stability. Furthermore, it has applied a process based on IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) 3.0 to upgrade the IT service management (ITSM) to a global level. Here, it plans to support the mobile environment to improve user features.

Other than Zero Defects activities, the company regularly manages “Quality Business Management Meetings,” in which all managers participate, to make decisions immediately on pending IT service quality issues while also drawing up measures to enhance the group’s IT competitiveness.

“As digital technologies are knocking down industrial boundaries and changing the entire paradigm nowadays, the stability of IT systems has become more important than ever because they form the base for realizing the technologies. We will support the group’s stable business expansion and DT through the multilateral quality innovation,” said Head Jun Kyung-hee of CJ OliveNetworks’ Business Continuity Service, who participated as a presenter.

During the day’s event, the participants had the opportunity to discuss the development direction of the IT industry, as well as experience solutions wherein new IT technologies were merged such as IoT(Internet of Things) display shelf and “face recognition signage” of CJ OliveNetworks. (The end)
